eReader vs eReader

So you're in the market for an eReader .. and really - who isn't? Here's a one stop shopping guide comparing the Barnes & Noble Nook Color and the Amazon Fire.

http://mashable.com/2011/11/19/nook-tablet-kindle-fire-review/

This review says it best!
The Nook Color (Tablet) is the better option.
Since producing eReaders both Amazon and Barnes & Noble have gone through rigorous tests to perfect their devices.

Into the specifics, we see that both eReaders have 1 GHz dual core CPU's. The Fire only has 512 MB of RAM where Nook has 1 GB. Nook also has the option of a memory card slot, while the Fire does not.
Both Barnes & Noble and Amazon have used an Android based system but have made the interface their own. Amazon made their interface dark while Nook made theirs a little lighter and easy to use.

Amazon has no easy way of getting back to the "home" page while Nook has a convenient "n" button on the bottom that'll bring up a menu to go home, to your library, the web, settings, etc. (This feature is much like the iPad.)

Both eReaders adding features for viewing videos. Both have the ability to view and enjoy videos, magazines and books. There's no real "winner" of this but the review states that the Nook makes it a tad more enjoyable to the eye.

There is a slight price difference, with the Fire being only $199 and the Nook Color being $249.
The Nook Color has the ability for more storage, extra memory than the Fire, and a microphone (to record children's stories). Obviously, you must outweigh the odds. Which one is best for you? Which one do you prefer?

For me, it's Nook Color hands down.

Technology in the classroom.

"It's not what the software does, it's what the user does with the software."

There is doubt that there are constant advances in technology, and while they're advancing our children are becoming social networking nuts! In the past, you had to be a certain age before you could join a social networking site but not anymore. Now, thirteen year olds are joining sites and they have 150 friends!
Before you know it, our children wont know what a book feels like. With eReaders,  iPads and everything in between, what's next?

In the classroom, many tools and resources are used daily. While technology can definitely be a crutch, it can also be a useful tool.
There are many educational toys out now that students (and teachers) can benefit from. From handheld toys that teach ABC's to apps that help with memory. There are countless oppurtunities and we need to stay on top of them to give our children an amazing education.

In a classroom I hope to teach in the future, I do think I will try and incorporate educational technology. We need to accept the changes the world is creating and make the best of it. While there can definitely be a limit of how much is used in the classroom, the technology can be a tad exciting for kids to keep their interest.

Either way - we need to provide our students with various oppurtunities!
Learning can be fun & we just need to show them that. :)
Welcome to my Educated Related blog! :)
I'm really looking forward to my journey to becoming a teacher and this is one of the first steps on my way there!
